Reputed financial services firm Softlogic Finance has opted to reinforce its supervisory ranks with fresh insight and expertise through the appointment of veteran bankers Dinesh Renganathan and Manilka Fernando to its board of directors.
Renganathan is a career banker with over 40 years of experience, including 25 years in middle and senior management at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), one of the world’s top 25 banks.
As Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager in charge of International Advances and Credit Risk, he oversaw a broad portfolio of foreign and domestic assets. This encompassed 14 overseas jurisdictions, international and financial institutional groups as well as multinational companies in the United Arab Emirates.
During his tenure at NBAD, he served as locum for the Senior General Manager, Chief Risk Officer and a member of many senior management committees.
This afforded him considerable exposure to all aspects of banking and financial markets at the senior management level, helping him accrue specialised skills in risk management and corporate and international banking.
Meanwhile, Fernando boasts similar financial acumen, having functioned as a banking and finance professional for over 35 years at multiple local and international organisations.
Additionally, he has initiated impactful consulting and advisory projects in strategic planning, restructuring and organisational development at a range of institutions. These include commercial banks and non-bank financial institutions.
Since starting his career at KPMG, he has held senior management positions within the financial services sector at Citibank, Mashreq Bank in Dubai, the National Development Bank of Sri Lanka and Al Rajhi Bank in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, he was Joint Managing Director at the Pership Group.
Fernando holds an MBA from the University of Georgia, in the US. He is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. His specialised training includes programmes at Harvard University and INSEAD.
He has also functioned as a visiting lecturer at the University of Colombo, the Institute of Chartered Accountants and other distinguished institutions.
